Australian Open: Paes-Vesnina lose in final

Melbourne: The Indo-Russian pair of Leander Paes and Elena Vesnina lost to the eighth seeded Bethanie Mattek-Sands and Horia Tecau 3-6, 7-5, 3-10 in the mixed doubles final of the ongoing Australian Open Tennis Tournament.

 

Paes-Vesnina lost the first set in just minutes 31 minutes. In the second set they came back from behind and won the set to put the title in the 10 points tie-breaker. Mattek showed tremendous class in the opening points of the tie breaker to win crucial points and get an early lead. Vesnina showed some nerves in the tie-breaker with some unforced errors giving the opponents an 8-3 lead. The last two points were won easily by Mattek and Sands to win the title.

 

Paes along with Radek Stepanek won the doubles title yesterday and would have loved to win his second title of the tournament.
