Australian Open: Mirza, Vesnina in semis

Melbourne: The Indo-Russian pair of Sania Mirza and Elena Vesnina entered the semifinal of the Australian Open after defeating the all American pair of Liezel Huber and Lisa Raymond 6-3 5-7 7-6 (6). The match that lasted for more than 3 hours saw both the pairs playing some extraordinary tennis.


Mirza, Vesnina won the first set easily it was looking they will have an easy outing. The Americans had other plans and they came back strongly in the second set and won the set. The third set lasted for 93 minutes and at the end of it was the Indo-Russian pair who came out as deserving winners.


Sania and Elena hit a total of 60 winners which proved costly for their opponents as they had 37 winners in their kitty.
