HWPGT: Vani Kapoor consolidates her lead on day 2

Vani-Kapoor-Indian-OpenKolkata: Delhi golfer Vani Kapoor continued with her stellar form to consistently lead the field at the end of the second day’s play in the second leg of the Hero Women’s Professional Golf Tour 2014 here today. The INR 5,00,000 event that culminates tomorrow is being played at the picturesque Tollygunje Golf Club in Kolkata. Vani capitalized on her overnight lead to consolidate her place at the top, carding a total of 142 (70,72) after the second round. Trailing Vani by a fair margin of seven shots are veteran golfer Smriti Mehra (75,74) and Delhi’s Ankita Tiwana (73, 76) who are jointly placed second after 36 holes.

Vani managed the best scored for the day under tough conditions, carding two over 72 in the second round with three bogeys on the 3rd, 5th and 18th holes along with a lone birdie on the 13th hole. Veteran Golfer Smriti Mehra who is tied for the second place with Delhi’s Ankita Tiwana, carded five bogeys on the 7th, 8th, 13th, 17th and 18th holes with a single birdie on the 6th hole. Ankita had a bad day on the course as she had a birdyless round with one double bogey on the 7th hole and four bogeys on the 4th, 12th, 17th and 18th holes.

 

Shweta Galande (76, 74) and Vaishavi Sinha (74, 76) are tied for the fourth place with identical scores of 150. Shweta carded a total of five bogeys on the 9th, 12th, 14th, 16th and 17th holes along with a birdie on the 15th hole. Vaishavi Sinha with a days total of six over 76 started her round with a bogey on the first hole followed by another bogey on the 10th hole. Her round also included two consecutive double bogeys on the 12th and 13th holes and a lone birdie on the 8th hole.

Local girl Neha Tripathi (74, 77) is placed sixth with a total score of 151, while Vandana Agarwal (79, 73) is placed seventh with a total of 152.
