Yuki knocked out of Chennai Open, Wawrinka in semis

Stanislas-Wawrinka-2Chennai: Stanislas Wawrinka recorded the 300th match win of his career on Friday, when the top seed and 2011 champion defeated Aljaz Bedene 6-2, 6-1 in 66 minutes for a place in the Aircel Chennai Open semi-finals.

"Someone told me before I came to Chennai that I could achieve the milestone this week," said Wawrinka. "It is special, after a long time on the tour, and I am really happy. I was focused on the match, which was not easy."

World No. 8 Wawrinka is the fourth Swiss player to reach the match wins milestone after Roger Federer (923), Marc Rosset (433) and Jakob Hlasek (432).
 

Sixth seed Marcel Granollers recorded his third straight win in four FedEx ATP Head2Head meetings against fourth seed Benoit Paire in a 6-2, 3-6, 7-6(5) victory. He saved one match point at 3-5 in the decider and willl now face Wawrinka.


Fifth seed Vasek Pospisil, who rose almost 100 places to No. 32 in the Emirates ATP Rankings last year, knocked out wild card Yuki Bhambri 6-3, 6-3 for a place in his fourth ATP World Tour semi-final.
 

Seventh seed Edouard Roger-Vasselin reached the semi-finals with a 7-5, 6-7(6), 6-0 win over Dudi Sela in two hours and seven minutes. Sela saved one match point at 5-6 in the tie-break.
