New York: Fourth round action in the 2013 US Open on Monday features five of the Top 10 seeds, led by former World No. 1s Rafael Nadal and Roger Federer. They are one match win away from meeting for the first time at the US Open in their storied rivalry. In addition, No. 4 seed David Ferrer, No. 8 Richard Gasquet and No. 10 Milos Raonic are on the order of play .
Meanwhile, five-time US Open champion Roger Federer has cruised into the fourth round, crushing Frenchman Adrian Mannarino 6-3, 6-0, 6-2 on Saturday night.
The left-handed World No. 63 saved three match points, including one courtesy of a double fault from Federer, but was unable to hold off the 17-time major winner. The Swiss seventh seed needed just one hour and 21 minutes to post the victory, during which he saved the only break point he faced.
Meanwhile, World No. 2 Rafael Nadal reached the fourth round of the US Open without losing serve. The 2010 champion dismissed Ivan Dodig 6-4, 6-3, 6-3 on Saturday to set a fourth-round clash with Philipp Kohlschreiber.
Nadal could not have asked for a better start to his campaign for a 13th Grand Slam title. The Spaniard is yet to drop a set and has held all 37 of his service games in the tournament. He hit 37 winners to 26 unforced errors and broke Dodig four times to claim victory in two hours and eight minutes. Dodig had won their last meeting two years ago on the hard courts of Montreal.
