US Open injuries

Sharapova has withdrawn her name from US Open because of the shoulder injury that she suffered a few months back. She hasn’t played in any major tournaments since her early exit from Wimbledon, except for Cincinnati Masters where she lost early, resulting in the sacking of her newly appointed coach Jimmy Connors.

Apart from Sharapova, on Wednesday, a former top-10 player Mardy Fish also withdrew from the U.S. Open, citing personal reasons. He was citing to make a comeback on tour after dealing with heart issues which he had suffered in the past, especially during 2010 and 2011.
