RR owner Raj Kundra admits to betting, says Delhi Police

sreesanth court 300New Delhi/Mumbai: In yet another twist to the IPL spot fixing scandal, Rajasthan Royals' owner Raj Kundra has admitted to indulging in betting and placed bets on his own team. According to TV reports, Delhi Police claimed this on Thursday saying that they have confiscated his passport to ensure that he does not leave the country during investigations into the IPL spot-fixing scandal.

Kundra, a British national, was questioned for 11 hours on Wednesday after cricketer Sidharth Trivedi told police that Kundra's business partner-friend Umesh Goenka used to ask for information regarding team formation and pitches.

Delhi Police Commissioner Neeraj Kumar said, "He has admitted to betting. He used to bet on his own team. We have also come to know that he has lost a lot of money in betting. He used to bet through Goenka, who is also a bookie," according to Times Now report.

Meanwhile, Umesh Goenka has said in his statement that Shilpa Shetty also used to place bets in the IPL games. According to reports, the name of Goenka, with whom Kundra owns a company dealing in steel business, came during the recording of statement of Trivedi, a prosecution witness in the case.

Meanwhile, Ankeet Chavan, who was on bail for his marriage, is back in judicial custody again.

According to reports, Vikram Aggarwal, the propreitor of the Chennai hotel, Radisson Blue is likely to be grilled by officials of the Tamil Nadu 'CB-CID' branch. The Chennai-based hotelier is reported to have introduced Gurunath Meiyappan to Vindoo Dara Singh.
