Hyderabad beat Delhi by three wickets in a thriller

steyriseshyderabad101New Delhi: Sunrisers Hyderabad clinched their third win of this season as they defeated Delhi Daredevils by three wickets in a very close contest at Feroze Shah Kotla ground on Friday. Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) was superd in their bowling and their spearhead, Dale Steyn bowled brilliantly alongside Amit Mishra to restrict the Delhi Daredevils (DD) to a low total of 114.

However Sunrisers Hyderabad had a tough time while chasing as they lost wickets at regular intervals. But some sensible batting by skipper Kumar Sangakkara who made run-a-ball knock of 28 and later by Amit Mishra and Dale Steyn helped them rope in the match with four balls to spare.

Hyderabad was off to a bad start as they lost their opening batsman Akshath Reddy in the second over. But Parthiv Patel and Kumar Sangakkara provided the momentum to the innings as they added 44 runs for the second-wicket. But after that Hyderabad lost the track completely and kept losing the wickets at regular intervals and it was more because of their bad shot selection rather than good bowling by Delhi Daredevils.

And after Hanuma Vihari and Ashish Reddy too departed, Amit Mishra and Dale Steyn, who were the bowling stars earlier, showed their batting skills and added 15 runs to the eighth wicket which steered their team to a victory.

Irfan Pathan, Shahbaz Nadeem and Johan Botha bowled well but it was just good enough to take this match to the final over.

Earlier , Delhi daredevil got a big blow when Dale Steyn took the wicket of David Warner in the first over of the match. Virender Sehwag and Mahela Jayawardene came to the centre but their innings was very short-lived as they both departed after scoring 12 runs each to Ishant Sharma on consecutive deliveries.

Things went from bad to worse for DD when they were five down for 65. Irfan Pathan and Kedar Jadhav started scoring in singles and boundaries to repair the damage. They were going well till Perera struck in his third over to depart Irfan Pathan and Morne Morkel. Pathan made 23 runs whereas Morkel was dismissed on duck. Jadhav ended up scoring 30* and took DD to a total of 114.
