No change in the office-bearers of IOA: IOC

No change in the current office-bearers of the suspended IOA: IOCNew Delhi: International Olympic Committee on Friday has denied to recognise the recently concluded Indian Olympic Association election and said that there is no change concerning the change of office-bearers of the suspended Indian body.

“There is no change concerning the current office-bearers of the suspended Indian Olympic Association, with Malhotra as Acting President (provided he does not act against the IOC directives) and Randhir Singh as Secretary General of the suspended Indian Olympic Association,” Christophe De Keeper, IOA Director General said in a letter.

“These so-called “elections” are null and void and the so-called “elected office-bearers” have no legitimacy to claim to represent or act on behalf of the suspended Indian Olympic Association in any capacity whatsoever. In particular they are not entitled to access the suspended Indian Olympic Association’s bank accounts and the funds of the Olympic Movement. The IOC reserves the right to take any legal action against any misuse of the remaining Olympic Movement funds which may still be available on the account of the suspended Indian Olympic Association.”

The IOC letter also stated that the IOA is no longer entitled to exercise any activity or right conferred upon it by the Olympic Charter or the IOC.

The apex body had also mentioned that the election were conducted violating the IOC directives and if they continue doing so it will only aggravate their situation.
