London Olympics: Sumit loses controversial boutLondon: Young Indian pugilist Sumit Sangwan’s first Olympic campaign met disastrous fate as he lost 14-15 to Brazil’s Yamaguchi Falcao Florentino in the in the 81-kg category in a controversy marred match.

Awarding the match in favor of Brazilian seemed like a controversial decision and it did not go down well with the Indian contingent as the filed an official complaint against the decision as was later confirmed by Sports Minister Ajay Maken on Twitter.

Sangwan playing in his first Olympics after going down 5-4, 5-4 in the first two rounds had an excellent final round. He landed more punches then his opponents but then the referee seemed to have thought otherwise.

Even though Sangwan won the last round, 6-5 some controversial decision making by the Greek referee Nikolaos Poutachadis saw the 19 year old Indian boxer’s campaign come to a sad end.
