Indian women recurve team's Olympic journey over

London Olympics: Indian women’s recurve team crash outLondon: The Lord’s Cricket Ground is somewhat not proving as lucky for the Indian Archers as it did for the Indian Cricket Team.

After a disastrous start to the ranking round by the Indian recurve team (both and women), Indian men’s team comprising of Tarundeep Rai, Rahul Banerjee and Jayanta Talukdar finished 12th round and in then in the pre-quarters they crashed out after an intense shoot-out.

It looked like a one off thing and the much fancied India women team of Deepika Kumari, Chekrovolu Swuro and Laishram Bombayla Devi were expected to turn the tables but then they followed the suit and have crashed out of the Olympics after a thrilling encounter.

The world number two Indian team lost 210-211 against the trio of Louise Laursen, Maja Jager and Carina Christiansen from Denmark.
India started off well and lead by one point in the second set but a 6 in the next set by Swuro them going down by four points. Next set was still good but then one more six in the fifth set by Swuro saw the lead deficit extend to six points.

Even though India tried to force their way back into the match, and shot three perfect 10’s over the next two sets, they still could reduce the deficit and lost the match by a narrow margin.

India won the first set and the last set and the rest of it was dominated by the Danes.

Now with team challenge already over for India they would now have to make amends at the individual event starting tomorrow.
