Disappointing opening day for Deepika & Co. at Olympics  London: Indian archers had a bad start to the London Olympics as after the men’s team’s poor effort where they finished last; a lot was expected from the women’s team but they too disappointed as they finished ninth in the ranking round held at the Lord's Cricket Ground.

The Indian team of Deepika Kumari, Laishram Bombayla Devi and Chekrovolu Swuro ended with a combined total of 1938.

Deepika Kumari scored the maximum points for India with 662, Bombayla Devi scored 651 points followed by 625.

Korea finished first with 1993 points.

Earlier in the men’s, draw the Indian men team comprising of Jayanta Talukdar, Tarundeep Rai and Rahul Banerjee finished on 12th position. The Indian trio ended on a combined score of 1969 points. Korean team broke the world record with a combine points tally of 2087 points.

Tarundeep Rai scored the maximum points for the Indian team with 664 points from 72 shots, Banerjee scored 655 points and Talukdar scored 650 points.
