Good day for Indians in Australian Open mixed doubles

Melbourne: The Indian pair of Sania Mirza and Mahesh Bhupathi beat Czech’s Iveta Benesova and Austria's Jurgen Melzer 3-6, 6-4, 12-10 to enter the Australian Open quarterfinal here on Monday.

The Indian duo had a tough match as they lost the first set and had to play out of their skin to remain in the tournament. They had more unforced errors in the match compared to their opponents but the high percentage of winners saved the day for the Indians.

Another Indian Rohan Bopanna along with her American partner Lisa Raymond also made it to the quarterfinal in the mixed double category.  The Indo-American pair defeated the all Australian pair of Casey Dellacqua and Matthew Ebden 6-4, 6-2.
