Leander Paes-Andre Begemann beat Lindstedt-Qureshi to reach ATP Winston-Salem Open final

leanderpaesWinston-Salem: India’s Leander Paes and his German partner Andre Begemann beat Swede Robert Lindstedt and Pakistan’s Aisam-ul Haq Qureshi 1-6 7-6 10-4 to make it to the final of the ATP Winston-Salem Open, here on Friday.

The Indo-German pair will be meeting Spain’s Guillermo Garcia-Lopez and Finland’s Henri Kontinen who beat Croatia’s Mate Pavic and New Zealand’s Michael Venus 7-6 6-3.

In the semi-final match, Paes and Begemann were broken twice in the first set which they lost 1-6. In the second set, Paes-Begemann did well to hold their serve before clinching the tie-breaker.

Paes will be playing his first final of the season on ATP Tour.

Meanwhile, in the men’s singles Pablo Carreno Busta moved into Saturday’s final at the Winston-Salem Open with a 6-4, 7-6 (5) semifinal victory over John Millman. He’ll face fellow Spaniard Roberto Bautista Agut in the final, after the second-seeded Bautista Agut pulled out a 7-5, 6-7 (2), 6-2 victory over ninth-seeded Viktor Troicki in an afternoon semifinal.
