NEW YORK: Serena Williams has been seeded No. 1, while Angelique Kerber is No. 2 seed in the list of seeds announced by the USTA for the last Grand Slam event of the year, the US Open.
Garbiñe Muguruza follows Kerber, while Agnieszka Radwanska has been seeded N0. 5 ahead of Simona Halep at No. 6.
Prominent among those missed the rankings cutoff, include Caroline Wozniacki, finalist in 2009 and 2014, as well as Eugenie Bouchard. Monica Puig just barely missed the cutoff at No.34. She defeated two reigning Grand Slam champions - Garbiñe Muguruza and Angelique Kerber - as well as two-time Wimbledon champion Petra Kvitova en route to the Olympic gold medal in Rio.
