London: India’s Mahesh Bhupathi and Rohan Bopanna lost their opening Group B clash against Jonathan Marray and Frederik Nielsen 4-6, 7-6 (7-1), 10-12 in the Barclays ATP World Tour Finals.
Bhupathi-Bopanna came into the tournament on the back of winning Paris Masters double crown last week.
Marray and Nielsen who are the reigning Wimbledon champions started the match well and won the first set. But the fifth seeded Bhupathi and
Bopanna fought back to take the second set into the tie-breaker and then played amazingly well to take the match into a super tie-breaker.
Bhupathi-Bopanna had the chance to finish the match but they missed two match points and eventually lost the game.
