New Delhi: Prerna Bhambri held on to her nerves and came back from behind to beat Prarthana Thombare in the opening round match of the Fenesta Open National Tennis Championships here on Tuesday.

The second seeded Delhi girl who went through some nerve wrecking moments in the match won the match 6-7(8), 7-6(8), 6-0 in three hours and 20 minutes.

Bhambri who won her second ITF title two weeks back in Gulbarga lost the first set and was down two match points in the second. But she held on to her nerves to keep her campaign on track.

In another match from the women’s section, top seed Rishika Sunkara got past Likitha Shetty with a comprehensive 6-3, 6-0 win.

Meanwhile, in the men’s singles third seed Siddharth Rawat defeated Kunal Anad 4-6, 6-4, 6-2 while the fourth seed PC Vignesh landed a knock-out blow to Yannick Nelord 6-3, 6-4.
