Bidar: India’s Prerna Bhambri went down to Varunya Wongteanchai of Thailand 5-7, 3-6 in the opening round of the Ashok Kheny ITF Bidar Open $ 10000 Women’s Futures Open.
Prerna Bhambri recently won the Gulbarga Open and was the favorite to win the contest against the unseeded Thai player.
Prerna played some impressive ground strokes to gain the lead in the first set but Varunya fought back and the unforced errors kept creeping up from Prerna's racquet. Varunya won the first set 7-5.
In the second set the Thai player broke Prerna’s serve twice to win the contest.
