Gulbarga: Former national champion Rushmi Chakravarthi pulled off a stunning victory to upset higher ranked Kyra Shroff at $10,000 ITF Gulbarga Open Women's Futures Tennis Championship here on Wednesday.
Rushmi ranked 1157 in the world beat Kyra, world number 531 6-3, 6-0 to enter the quarterfinals of the event.
Indian prospect Prerna Bhambri beat wild card entrant Spurti Shivalingaiah 6-4,4-6,6-3.
In another match, second-seeded Briton Emily Webely-Smith got the better of Japan’s Kinoshita 7-6(4), 6-2 while fourth seed Zi Yang of China outwiited Pei Chi Lee of Chinese Taipei 7-5, 6-1.
