•    In his first 29 first-class matches, he took 5-wickets haul eight times and 10 wickets haul twice.

•    Under his captaincy, Tamil Nadu won the Domestic One Day Championship in 2009.

•    He was the highest wicket-taker (13 wickets) in 2010 Champions League Twenty20 and was adjudged 'Player of the Tournament'.

•    Ashwin was Chennai Super Kings' second highest wicket-taker in 2010 season of the IPL.

Ravichandran Ashwin was born in Madras (now Chennai), Tamil Nadu on 17 September, 1986. He is a cricketer who plays for India at the International level and Tamil Nadu in first-class cricket. Though he is mainly selected for bowling right arm-off break, he is handy in batting as well. He bowls with a lot of variation and is famous for bowling carrom ball. He made his ODI debut against Sri Lanka on 10 November, 2010. He was a part of Indian squad in the ICC World Cup 2011. He was a revelation in the IPL with his miserly spells with the new ball, conceding only 6.10 runs per over and taking 13 wickets. He followed that with a near-spotless performance in the 2010 Champions League where his Man of the Series performance helped Chennai lift the trophy.

Ashwin is also the current player of Chennai Super Kings in Indian Premier League. Ashwin has got most wickets in 2010 Champion League Twenty20 for Chennai Super Kings. He made his debut against West Indies on 6 November, 2011 with 9 wickets haul which registered him as the third man ever to get a Man of the Match in a Test Debut.
