55th National Shooting Championship: Zorawar Singh wins Gold medal in Men’s Trap event

New Delhi: In an exciting final, Zorawar Singh of Air India won the Trap Men’s  Gold medal. He shot a brilliant final of 24/25 in the 55th National Shooting Championship here on Saturday. In the qualifying round, he tied with Anwer Sultan of  U.P. at 116/125 for first place but beat Anwer with a margin of 5 points in the finals.


Anwer Sultan tied for 2nd place after Finals with Manavjit Singh, as total of both the shooters was 135/150. In tie shoot, Anwer Sultan won on the first shot as Manavjit Singh missed the very first birds.

G Sharan of Karnatka won the Gold Medal in Junior Men’s category. He shot 105/125 followed by Adhiraj Singh Rathore (101) and Manavaditya Rathore (99), who won silver and bronze respectively.

Meanwhile, the first selection trial to select the shooters for Olympic Games will start on 6th February 2012 at Dr. Karni Singh Shooting Range. The second selection trial will be held at New Moti Bagh Gun Club, Patiala from 13th February 2012.
