Indian shooters fail to secure Quota Place at Doha

Doha: Despite performing well at the Asian Shooting Championship here on Monday, Indian shooters missed the quota place in the Air Pistol Women event. Annuraj Singh, who is already a quota holder in this event, bagged bronze medal with a score of 383+98.2, while the team of Annuraj Singh (383), Shweta Chaudhary (383) and Heena Sidhu (381) won the gold medal in team event.

 

For the first time in the tournament all the three shooters were in the finals, but because of some bad luck they missed the Quota Place for the Olympics. Heena Sindhu was at the 3rd position after the 9th shot, but her last shot put her at 5th position resulting in her missing the Quota Place.

 

She lost the quota with a small margin of 0.9 only. Shweta Chaudhary was also doing exteremly well in the finals but her 7th shot, which was 7.7 spoiled her chances of securing the Quota Place. The final scores of Heena Sidhu & Shweta Chaudhary were 381+99.2 and 383+96.6 and stood 5th and 6th respectively.
