Gagan bounces back to claim gold on last day

Pune: After being pushed to the second position in men's air rifle and prone event, Commonwealth Games show-stealer Gagan Narang was back in top form as he fired his way to the Men's 50m Rifle 3-Position gold on the concluding day of the 55th National Shooting Championship on Tuesday.

Air India's Narang, who finished second behind gold medal winners Abhinav Bindra in air rifle and Sushil Ghalay in prone event, shot his way to the three-position at the Balewadi ranges with a combined total of 1272.0 points, nearly 15 better than Sanjeev Rajput of Navy who edged out army rival Imran Khan to the silver spot by six points. Khan secured the bronze. 

Omkar wins gold in air pistol

Omkar Singh of Navy fought a pitched battle with Vivek Singh of Air India before securing the gold in the men's 10m air pistol.

Vivek Singh (Air India) almost pulled off a surprise with four consecutive 10-plus shots, but fell behind 0.1 points and settled for the silver with 676.5. Omprakash Choudhary (Army) was a close third with 676.4.
