New Delhi: The Indian men’s double trap team consisting of Md. Asab, Ankur Mittal and Sangram Dahiya won a Bronze Medal at the ISSF Shotgun World Championship, being played at Lonato, Italy. This was India’s first medal of the Championship. The trio shot a combined score of 400 to pip hosts Italy, who finished fourth with a total of 398. The team from Great Britain won the Gold with a score of 414 while Russia claimed the Silver, finishing with a total of 406.

In the other Indian interest of the day, the junior men’s Double Trap team comprising of Jaisal Singh, Shardul Vihan and Ahvar Rizvi finished fourth with a combined score of 372. Italy, Russia and China won the Gold, Silver and Bronze medals respectively in the event.

In the men’s individual Double Trap event, which had two Rio Olympic quota places up for grabs, Md. Asab was the best Indian in qualifying, finishing 12th with a score of 135. Ankur Mittal finished 16th with a score of 134 while Sangram Dahiya ended in 23rd position shooting a total of 131. The top six finishers qualify for the finals in double trap.
