Satyendra of the Services Shoots Golden Double at the 35th National Games

50M pistolNew Delhi: Satyendra Singh representing the Services, shot his way to a Golden double on Day seven of the ongoing 35th National Games, when he combined with compatriots Chain Singh and Surendra Rathod to win the 50m Rifle 3 Positions Men’s Team event, before defeating Swapnil Kusale of Maharashtra in a nail-biting final round shoot-off in the individual version of the same event, here at the Central Polytechnic Campus Shooting Range at Vattiyoorkavu, Kerala. His Services team mate Chain also won his second Gold medal of the Games, having won the Men’s 10m Air Pistol individual event earlier in the week.

The Services Team shot a final round score of 3492 to win the Gold, while Haryana represented by veteran Sanjeev Rajput, Deepak Kumar and Mahesh Kumar shot 3431 to bag the Silver Medal. The U.P Team won the Bronze Medal. In the Men’s 50m Rifle 3 Positions individual event, both Satyendra and Swapnil finished the final round with identical scores of 445.8, before Satyendra edged him out in the shoot-off. Chain bagged the Bronze with a score of 434.9.

The Services team continues to lead the Medal tally in shooting with an impressive haul of 13 Gold, 4 Silver and 6 Bronze medals while Maharashtra still lie a distant second at the Range with a tally of 6 Gold, 3 Silver and 2 Bronze medals.
