Indian Premier League has shown that it’s not only about money, limelight and controversies. From its very start it was a perfect combination of cricket, entertainment and a cocktail of infamy and pleasure. But then where will you find so much of glamour, entertainment and sports mixed together. It might have had its moments of infamy, but what it has done to cricket and players are unparallel. Not only the game; it has played its part in the lives of its owners as well --the most recent being the league’s role in bringing Rowdy Rathore closer to King Khan.
Once at loggerheads and not on the talking terms, Shah Rukh Khan used the IPL platform to break the ice between him and Akshay Kumar. It all happened during Kolkata Knight Riders and Pune Warriors match in Pune when Shah Rukh Khan showed a genuine gesture of friendship towards KHiladi Kumar and walked towards Akki to exchange the pleasantries. Akshay reciprocated and the two Bollywood stars were together and were in conversation for 15-odd minutes. From there started the new bonding between the two heroes.
The bonding further extended even after that match as after Kolkata Knight Riders won the IPL finals in Chennai on last Sunday, SRK was on cloud nine and celebrated with players and fans. The celebration then shifted to Prabhu Deva's home on Boat Club Road, where the director was partying with his Rowdy Rathore team, including Akshay.
Later on Thursday night before the release of Akshay’s much anticipated Rowdy Rathore, there was a very special, private screening of the movie being held at Mannat – Shah Rukh’s residence in Mumbai. Akshay and wife Twinkle were special guests of Shah Rukh and Gauri, as the two couples spent an evening of great bonhomie watching the film together.
Though never enemies like SRK and Salman, Akshay and Shah Rukh were pals neither, but according to reports, it were their wives Gauri and Twinkle who helped in breaking the ice between the two super stars. Both Shah Rukh and Akshay are in a happy phase right now – one with his IPL victory and the other with his films. They have put their past differences behind it seems.
