Delhites dazzles city leg of Red Bull Street Style

New Delhi: Delhites had an exciting start to their weekend, watching 15 freestylers perform mind boggling tricks with the football, at the city qualifiers of Red Bull Street Style.

Young freestylers participating in the competition, put their best foot forward. In a head-to-head battle, each participant performed for 30 seconds before passing the ball to his fellow participant. They were judged on variety, control, technique and style. The rules of the game were simple: 1 ball, 2 players, 3 minutes.

After a battle for over 3 hours, Manik, Henry and Ikron were declared the winners of the New Delhi qualifiers. They will now compete with winners from Mumbai, Kolkata, Pune and Hyderabad at the National finals on the 9th of June in Kolkata.

The freestylers were judged by Ankit Sharma, Captain of the U-21 New Delhi football team, who was extremely impressed by these young freestylers. “Some of the tricks performed by the kids today showed tremendous potential. Red Bull Street Style is a perfect platform for people who are passionate about soccer on and off the field. It’s critical that this competition continues to thrive so that we can find more Archis Patils and Ikron Luikham who can serve as role models,” said Sharma at the award ceremony.

The world's premier freestyling competition- Red Bull Street Style is currently in the third edition of the competition in India. The winner from India will get a chance to travel to Italy and compete against winners from across 40 countries in the month of September.
