HI and IHF should reconcile differences: Aslam Khan

New Delhi: Former Indian Olympian and newly elected president of Olympian Association of India Aslam Sher Khan finds it very strange as to why Hockey India(HI) and Indian Hockey Federation (IHF) are at constant loggerheads and cannot reconcile their differences for the welfare of the sport.

“I do not know the reason as to why they do not solve their problems and work together as one body. I see both the bodies somehow fail to understand that it is the players who are at loss and the game is the sufferer in larger context,” said the former Olympian.

Khan, who was an instrumental force behind India’s World Cup triumph in Kuala Lumpur in 1975, is also disappointed with the whole WSH debacle. “It is sad that the WSH got postponed, but there is no one to blame for it. The event could have helped the players a lot and would given them a lot of exposure, but now since it is not happening there is no point talking about it,” added Khan at an event where Sunil Bedi, chairman of JMD group was appointed as the Vice-President for Asian Associated Wrestling Council (AAWC) for Asia.

Meanwhile, Sunil Bedi, said that he was very glad at the opportunity and would try to take Wrestling forward. “Coming together is a beginning, keeping together is progress, working together is success. Since my childhood, I have been an ardent fan of wrestling, owning my fondness for none other than a great wrestler Shri Dara Singh Ji. Today, I feel honoured to make my dream a reality, by getting an opportunity to join myself with this sport, promising its pinnacle of success. I would whatever it takes in my capacity to take the game forward,” he added.
