Go and win medal for me and country: Sushil tweets after NADA clears Narsingh of doping charges

Wrestler Narsingh Yadav on Monday was cleared by the National Anti Doping Agency's (NADA) disciplinary panel of any wrongdoing in the ingestion of a prohibited substance. The disciplinary panel accepted that Narsingh's amino drink had been sabotaged by a competitor. The verdict paves the way for Narsingh to compete at the Rio de Janeiro Olympics in the 74 kg category that he had qualified for by clinching a Bronze medal at the 2015 World Wrestling Championship.

A relieved Narsingh said that the verdict proved his innocence and that he would now do everything within his power to return from Rio with a medal. "Right from the first day, I have had faith that I would be cleared. I have always competed in a fair and honest manner. Competing for India is a matter of massive pride and encouragement for me and I will never engage in anything that brings disrepute to my nation and my sport," he said.

Meanwhile fellow legendary wrestler Sushil Kumar, who off late had been involved in controversy with Yadav, showed his support to Yadav through twitter and said he was happy for him and wished him luck.

Meanwhile, Olympic medallist Yogeshwar Dutt, who had earlier shown his support for Narsingh, once again stood by his side and tweeted that “Truth can never be defeated.”
