2016 IBSF World Snooker: Dharminder Lilly claims gold in Master’s category, Advani bags bronze

Pankaj Advani LillyDoha: Indian cueists claimed medals in different categories of the 2016 IBSF World Snooker that ended on Tuesday night at Doha, Qatar.

Marking the biggest achievement of his career, Jalandhar-based Dharminder Lilly showed outstanding performance throughout the competition to claim gold in the Master’s category. In the final he defeated Welshman Elfed Evans 6-2.

India also won two more medals in other categories. Amee Kamani performed her best by entering in her first ever World Championship final and won silver of women’s category, while Pankaj Advani lost in the semi final of men’s category and settled for bronze.

Amee Kamani lost to defending champion Wendy Jans 5-0. However, she played splendid game earlier and knocked out tough challenges from players like Waratthanun Sukritthanes of Thailand in semis and her compatriot Chitra Magimairaj in quarters.

However, there was some disappointment in men’s category where the defending champion from India Pankaj Advani settled for bronze after losing the semi-final match against the Welsh wizard Andrew Pagett 7-2.
