Malkeet wins maiden national title for Uttar Pradesh

Malkeet Singh becomes the first player from Uttar Pradesh who has ever won National Title when he won the National Junior Snooker title today in Manisha National Billiards & Snooker Championship 2013 being held at Gymnasium Hall of Jiwaji University, Gwalior (Org. by Gwalior District Billiards and Snooker Association). He defeated all three opponents in round robin league and scored +10 points.

 

Yesterday he defeated Nitesh Madan from Delhi and Rahul Sachdev from Maharashtra in straight sets of frame 4-Nil and today he outplayed Vishal Vaya from Maharashtra 4-2.

Today while playing against Vishal Vaya, Malkeet played fearless and demonstrated tremendous potting in the first frame. Vishal managed to clinch the second frame but in next frame, again Malkeet produced two breaks of 52 and 42 points to take lead 2-1. Next frame, however, Vishal managed to pull and leveled the match which Malkeet replied by producing 40 points break in next and brilliant potting play in 6th frame to seal the match and winning the championship.

Nitesh Madan from Delhi remained No.2 as he defeated the other two contenders Vishal Vaya (4-Nil) and Rahul Sachdev (4-2).

In Senior Billiards, Sub-Junior champion Ishpreet Chadha upset India No.6 Siddharth Parikh in the decider game 3-2. Ishpreet made two breaks of 68 and 60 points in 3rd and 5th frame.
