Maken clueless over probables’ list

Ajay MakenNew Delhi: With World Series Hockey(WSH) finding it hard to strengthen its hold in Indian hockey scene, Sports Minister Ajay Maken took a dig at the Hockey India and said that he is surprised to see the number of probables for the Olympic camp suddenly increase to 48.

“I was surprised at Hockey India’s decision to suddenly increase the number of probables for the Olympic Camp.  Earlier it was 34 and now it is 48, and I really do not understand why is it so,” said Maken, who was the chief guest of the WSH match between Delhi Wizards and Karnataka Lions.

Maken also lauded the efforts of Indian Hockey Federation and fully supported the WSH for trying to change the scene of Hockey in India. “WSH is a great initiative. I fully support it. The tournament will not only promote the game of hockey, but will also provide the players an opportunity to earn good money," added Maken.

He also added that this sort of tournament would also help them utilize the facilities built during the 2010 Commonwealth Games which otherwise lies unused most of times.
