Subhendu, Pinky shine in Inter-College Basketball Tournament

New Delhi: The boys from Hindu College won the XV Invitational Inter-College Basketball Tournament held at Sports Complex, Basketball Court, New Delhi YMCA. In the girl’s category it was St. Stephen’s College who won the first spot. The tournament saw 26 teams (17 Men’s and 9 Women’s team), and all the matches were played on the knock-out basis.

 

Subhendu (Hans Raj College) and Pinky Chechen (St. Stephen’s College) won the best player of the tournament award in the man’s and the women’s category respectively.


The tournament which was played from Jan. 16th to Jan. 20th, 2012 was inaugurated by Rev. Dr. Clement Rajkumar, Vice Principal, St. Stephen’s College, beside the Chief guest other dignitaries like Mr. Sunny Joshua, Chairman, Sports Committee, NDY, Mr., J.A. Benjamin, General Secretary and Mr. Bertram Devadas Associate General secretary were at the event.


Mr. Kenneth Wayne Natt, a renowned N.B.A. Coach was invited as the Chief-Guest for the Closing Ceremony held on 20th January 2012.  He also awarded the prizes and trophy to the winners along with Rev. Dr. Clement Rajkumar, Vice-Principal, St. Stephen’s College & Member of the Board, New Delhi YMCA and Mr. Sunny Joshua, Chairman Sports Committee, New Delhi YMCA.

Men: Winners - Hindu College, Runner’s-up - Hans Raj College, Third Position - Shri Ram College of Commerce

Women: Winners - St. Stephen’s College, Runner’s-up - St. Stephen’s College, Third Position - Jesus and Mary College
