Chennai: St. Joseph's College of Engineering won major titles in the sports festival conducted by Karunya University, winning the team championships for men and women in athletics, kabaddi and volleyball for women at Coimbatore.

The athletics team totalled 67 points taking the gold in 100 metres, discus, and 4x100m relay for men, the women bagged gold in discus throw, 4x100m relay, 100 metres, shot put and 4x400m relay races.

Other wins: Kabaddi: Men: St. Joseph's bt DP Jain 35-33; bt Karunya University 49-13, bt Kandan University 8-6, and in the final league, Annamalai University 19-17.

Women: St. Joseph's bt Annamalai 44-39, bt Nazareth College (Madurai) 52-16, bt Meenakshi College 52-16, and tied with AVS College, Salem 23-23. The trophy was on the basis of points aggregate.
Volleyball: Women: St. Joseph's bt Annamalai 25-8, 25-6; bt Kongunadu College 25-4, 25-4; final: bt SRM 20-25, 25-15, 25-17, 25-17 .
