Chandigarh: The Chandigarh State Badminton Team dominated in the recently concluded North Zone Inter-state Senior and Junior Badminton Championships by winning two gold and three silver medals at Mandi (H.P.).
In the men’s section, Kawaldeep Singh and Sumit Sharma won gold in double whereas Abhishek Saini won gold medal in the junior boys (U-19) singles category. The silver medals were won by Sanya Sethi; Garima and Divyanshi and Kawaldeep Singh in women’s singles, junior girls double and men’s singles respectively. Men’s Doubles:
Kawaldeep Singh & Sumit Sharma (Chandigarh) beat Kaustav Rawat & S. Bora (Delhi) 21-156, 14-21, 8-3 (conceded)
Men’s Singles:
Kawaldeep Singh (Chandigarh lost to Love Kumar (Punjab) 19-21, 21-8, 19-21.
Women’s Singles:
Sanya Sethi (Chandigarh) lost to Priyanka Kumawat (Rajasthan) 15-21, 12-21
Junior Boys Singles (U-19)
Abhishek Saini (Chandigarh) beat Piyush Mina (Rajasthan) 21-14, 21-12
Junior Girls Doubles (U-19)
Garima & Divynashi lost to Kavya & Anamika (Delhi) 21-23, 12-21
