Chandigarh: Defending champions Football Club Pune City playing in style beat Amarjit Football Academy by 3 – 0 in their first match of 14th Administrator’s Challenge Cup All India Football Tournament for boys U – 17 year played at Sector-42, Sports Complex, Chandigarh on Saturday.
Both the teams took some time to settle in the initial quarter of the match as the ground was slippery. Both the teams played tough, however, it was FC Pune city who took the lead in the 23rd minute f play their star striker Shimthang H scored first goal with a superb side volley off a cross given to him by Shreepat from the left flank where Kurali custodian had no answer to his side volley. Had Kurali lads not missed two sure shot chances, the outcome of the match would have been something else. The winners were leading by 1 - 0 at the breather.
After the half time FC Pune city pumped two more goals. It was again Shimthang H who scored the second goal in the 62nd minute.
In the 87th minute of play the FC Pune City framed a move from the left flank when Remai sent a high cross inside the box of Amarjit team where Neeraj of Amarjeet deliberately stopped the ball with his hands, referee Awarded penalty kick in favour of FC Pune City which was converted by Ishan Dey.
Mohd. Tahir, Tejwinder Singh and Neeraj of Amarjit Football Academy Kurali and Amrit Pal Singh of FC Pune City were cautioned by the referee and shown yellow card.
In the second match Navi Mumbai Football Academy defeated JJ Soccer Football Academy Bangalore by 3 - 1.
Mohan of JJ Soccer Academy Bangalore opened the account in the 11th minute of play. After conceding early goal Mumbai lads came up in a whirl wind fashion and Sohail Shaikh scored equalizer in the 18th minute of play. Farzan scored the second goal in the next minute (19th minute).
Navi Mumbai football academy was leading by 2 - 1 at the breather Sohail Shaikh scored the third goal for Navi Mumbai in the 80th minute of play.
Amaan Sheikh of Navi Mumbai and Mohan of JJ Bangalore were given marching order by the referee as they were shown two yellow cards in this match.
In the third match of the day, Dalbir Football Academy defeated Pride Sports Delhi by 4 - 1. Amandeep Singh of Dalbir scored two goals for his team in the 18th and 81st minutes of play Gurpreet and Gaurav were the other scorers who scored one goal each in 10th and 14th minute respectively.
Lov Sang Xavier scored the only goal in 65th minute of play. Gaurav of Dalbir Academy was cautioned and shown yellow card by the referee in the 38th minute of play.
In the fourth match of the day, Baichung Bhutia Football School defeated Sekri Sports Association Gurdaspur.
Local contender Youngsters Club hammered Gujarat football Academy by huge margin of 10-0 in a one sided affair at Sector-17, Football Stadium. Karamjit was the hero of the day who scored four goals for his team in 4th , 30th 87th and 88th minutes of play. Rohit scored two goals in 36th and 38th minute of play. Karamjit also scored two goals in 41st and 65th minutes of play, whereas Jaskaran and Amanpreet were the other scorers for Youngsters who scored one goal each in the 65th and 90th minutes respectively. Jaswinder, Rohit and Amanpreet of Youngsters Club, Chandigarh and Parth and Naimish of Gujarat Football Academy were cautioned by the referee and shown yellow cards.
The other team from city beautiful edge past KUCT, Howrah in a well contested match at Sector-42, Sports Complex by the narrow margin of 2-1. Both the teams exhibited skillful game right from the word go. KUCT Howrah drew first blood in the 4th minute of play when Faruk scored the goal with a calculated lofted shoot. The winners were leading by 1-0 at the half time.
After the half time both the teams played well but no goal was scored upto 83rd minute of play. Chandigarh lads mounted pressure in the last dying minutes and able to score the goal in 83rd minute when Sukhandeep Singh scored a good goal from difficult angle. The winning goal was scored by Gurkeerat for Chandigarh in 90th minute of play. Amandeep Singh of Chandigarh was shown yellow card by the referee as caution.
In the last match played at Sector-17 Football stadium, Thou Football Academy, Manipur thrashed Haryana by 7-0. L. Benson scored three goals, L. Robinson scored two goals whereas Dillu and Ronanl Pao scored one goal each in 90th and 90+1 minutes of play. T. Thoi Singh and L. Robinson of Thou Manipur were cautioned by the referee and shown yellow card.
