Daniel, Veera to represent India in world finals of Audi Quattro Cup 2014

Istanbul (Turkey): The duo of A Louie Daniel and N Veeraraghavan of Team Chennai beat 12 other teams to book a berth in the World Final of the Audi Quattro Cup 2014. In the India final hosted by Audi India at the Kemer Golf and Country Club, Daniel and Veeraraghavan representing Audi Chennai garnered 37 points to qualify for the World Final to be held at Dubai later this year.


The Ahmedabad team comprising of Chetan Ranka and Rajiv Vasa finished runners-up with a total of 36 points while the team from Chandigarh consisting of Vivek Sharma and YR Saini secured the third place at 28 points, pipping two other teams on countback.


The India final was a culmination of the nation-wide event conducted across 13 cities. Played on a unique ‘Greensome Stableford’ format, two players of varying handicaps were randomly drawn to form a team. The winning team from each of qualifying round earned a spot in the India final. The added attraction was the presence of a ‘wild Card’ entry where one team was picked on draw of lots from each of the centres and the team with the highest score earned a trip to the India final.


The Audi quattro Cup tournament series, established in 1991, has become one of the most celebrated amateur golf tournaments in the world bringing together over 85000 golfers from 54 countries. The Indian circuit of Audi quattro Cup touched over 1500 golfers in all.
