New Delhi: Former Delhi State footballer and official Krishan Kumar passed away after a brief illness at Pushpanjali Hospital in Vaishali (UP) on Saturday. He was 48 years old and is survived by his wife and a younger son. He was creamted at Nigam Bodh Ghat.
A large number of soccer lovers,fans and his footballer colleagues and DSA officials, including DSA secretary Syed Shaheen, treasurer Hem Chand and vice-president NK Bhatia attended his last rites.
He started his football career as a left- full in the Delhi's renowned New Delhi Heroes Football Club from 1984 to 1994 and participated regularly in the prestigious Delhi Senior Division Football League and reputed Durand, DCM, All-India Lal Bahadur Shastri and Dr. Bheem Rao Football Tournament. He became Hony. Secretary of New Delhi Heroes Football Club from 1998 to 2000.
His contemporaries were renowned internationals- Bhupinder Thakur, Trilok Singh Bisht, Ravi Rana, Joginder Rawat, Bhupender Rawat, Mohd. Idrees. He was working as an official in Archieves Department of Govt. of India, New Delhi.
The All India Football Federation (AIFF) vice-president and DSA president Subhash Chopra and managing committee members expressed their heart-felt condolences over his untimely death.
