Shillong: The five month long sports fete witnessed a nerve-wracking battle between 15 zonal winning teams from 700 schools across the country, at the ‘All India Finals’ of the fifth season of the ‘Tata Tea Jaago Re Inter Milan Soccer Stars ’12 in Shillong today. O. M. Roy Memorial Secondary School from Shillong defeated HRDC Army Boys School from Lucknow by 2 to 0 goal to emerge victorious at the Polo Grounds in Shillong.
The under-15 soccer talent hunt in India is an initiative by Tata Tea in partnership with leading football club FC Internazionale Milano (Inter Milan). The final phase of the competition saw 15 winning teams from 15 cities fighting for the coveted trophy. During the course of the tournament, Mr. Jamshid Nassiri, Tournament Head Scout, identified 38 of the most talented children from the 15 locations to be trained by Inter Milan and Indian coaches.
Further, 16 shortlisted children from these 38 will get an opportunity to represent India at friendly, internal youth tournament in Milan.
The fifth season of the Tata Tea Jaago Re Inter Milan Soccer Stars ’12 tournament has witnessed a participation of over 7000 students from 700 schools.
