India vs Australia: Players to watch out for in Kotla Test

Ind-Vs-Aus-2013Mohali Test was filled with some unexpected action and both the teams battled it out till the last hour to get the result in their favour. But it India who emerged victorious and took an unbeatable 3-0 lead. Winner of this series is already decided but the final round of this battle is yet start at Ferozeshah Kotla on Friday.

With Australia looking forward to play for pride and avoiding a clean sweep in this series, this makes the fourth and final Test much more interesting. Indian team is about to end their roller coaster season on a high and if they win this final Test, then there chances of climbing the ladder to reach the number two spot in the ICC rankings will also be high.

Here we bring for you the players to watch out for at Kotla Test:

INDIA

Murli Vijay: Murli Vijay has been in stupendous form in this series and he looks to carry it to Ferozeshah Kotla. With two hundreds in the last two Tests, he is the man of the moment. He has galvanized his innings in the best way possible in the last couple of Test matches and had spent almost 15 hours at the crease to build his innings. His rock-solid attitude has not only earned India this series but has given hope of winning the series 4-0.

Ravindra Jadeja: Giant-killer Ravindra Jadeja has bowled some unforgettable spells in this series which has ended up changing the course of the game. He has picked up 17 wickets in this series so far with a bowling average of 18.88. Maybe he has not yet come up with a five-wicket haul, but he has proved his worth by picking three wickets in five innings consecutively. But Kotla Test might end up giving him his best figures.

Virat Kohli:
Virat Kohli is all set to play his first Test on his home-ground. He had scored 242 runs in this series so far and is looking in great touch. He has been criticized for playing slowly in Mohali but he played his part really well by taking the Indian total to 499. He has been looking much more watchful and his controlled aggression his helping him a lot. India hopes he comes up with a big knock at his home turf.

Chetashwar Pujara:
After Rahul Dravid, Pujara is now the back-bone of Indian batting line-up and he has been piling up heaps of runs. He was adjudged leg before wicket in the first innings where the ball hit the bat first and then the pad. His knock of 204 at Hyderabad was something that was a mixed-bag of elegance and aggression and he is expected to do so in the final Test of the series and make another series a memorable one for his fans.

Bhuvneshwar Kumar:
Heartbeat of Indian bowling, Bhuvneshwar Kumar has silenced his critics by bowling some gem of the delivery in the last two Tests. The way he deceived Steve Smith in the second innings of Mohali Test was something that we rarely see these days. His ability to bowl long spells with high accuracy from one end makes batsmen run out of patience. His line and length has been very consistent in this series and he has ended up bowling some very good spells of swing bowling.

AUSTRALIA

Shane Watson:
Shane Watson was ruled out of the Mohali Test but now is back in the squad and is going to lead the Australian squad in the final Test incase Michale Clarke opts out of the match due to back problem. He has not been in the best of form this series but having a match-winner like him adds loads of strength in the squad. His positive mind-set has always been one of his strengths and the hunger of piling up some big runs in the final Test might get the best out of him.

Philip Hughes:
Hughes has not been in the best-of-forms and has been the bunny of Indian spinners. But the way he came out of his shell in the second innings of Mohali Test, he has brought some liveliness at the Australian top-order. His innings might not have lasted for too long but the good thing was that he was willing to bat for long hours which made him cross the fifty run mark for the first time in the series.

David Warner:
David Warner seems to have gone into the shell since the Chennai Test and this has hurt the chances of Australian team to level the series on Indian soil .But we saw some glimpses of his positive stroke play in the first innings of Mohali Test and if gets going, then there is every possibility that Australia will end up this tour on a winning note.

James Pattinson:
James Pattinson was also among the four players who were dropped from the Aussie squad for third Test but he is all set to make his way back to the team as his teammate Mitchell Starc has injured his ankle just before the final Test. Pattinson bowled a terrific spell on the dustbowl wicket of Chennai and would be looking to repeat that high-quality performance with his new-ball partner Peter Siddle. Pattinson has picked up eight wickets in two Tests so far and he can be very lethal on Kotla as the surface will assist the pacers with the extra bounce from the wicket.

Peter Siddle:
Peter Siddle bowled brilliantly in the last Test at Mohali and bowled one of his longest spells on this tour. He took a five-wicket haul and ended up with the impressive figure s of 5-72 in the first innings. With more assistant to pacers at Kotla, he must be looking forward to come up with another master-piece of swing bowling.
