English Premier League: Clash of the Titans

After the dream fairy tale story of Leicester City winning the premier league last season and the arrival of new managers and players the premier league has spiced up living upto its tag of the most unpredictable and one of the best footballing league in the world.

Manchester United look serious title contenders once again signing one of the best managers around Jose Mourinho who was sacked last season by Chelsea after some dismal performances there. He's been pretty active in the transfer market though signing Zlatan Ibrahmovic for free. Henrikh Mkhitriyan looks another brilliant signing, a player who has been consistently performing for Borussia Dortmund and brings in a different dimesnion into United's game.Eric Baily is another Mourinho's signing, a CB who brings some stability into the defensive area. After finishing out of tye Champions League places last season and with Jose and excellent signings coming in Manchester United would like to perform well and bring the old glory days back.

Lets look on the other side of the Manchester as well, Manchester City. Man City has been performing really well for the past 6-7 years now in the Premier League. Last season they had an European campaign as well reaching the semi-finals. With Pep coming in as manger bringing his all the intelligence and tiki taka experience into Man City's game they would look to be dominant both in the league and Europe. Signing an excellent midfielder Ikalay Gundagon from Dortmund and Nolito, they seem to have all the midfield and attacking prospects covered. Ageing defense looks to be a concern for Pep but the transfer window still open, who knows he might fill up that loophole too. Man City have an extremely balanced side and have two players for every position. With players like Kun Aguero, Kevin De Bruyne and David Silva in their side would be looking to create a huge impact and with a leader like Vincen Kompany Man City are set to dominate the Premier league.

Then comes a North London team in the name of Chelsea who are coming after a dismal league campaign last season leading to their manager's sacking. Antinio Conte is set to take charge who looks a very intelligent and tactical manager after seeing enough of him for Italy in the Euros. Usually plays with the formation of 3-5-2 but it would be interesting how he lines up his team in the Premier League as this league is in itself a different challenge altogether. Eden Hazard was back at his lethal best in the Euros which is amazing news for the Chelsea fans. With Chelsea signing Ngolo Kante from Leicester City, one of the best players last season, they have an excellent midfield now in the form of Fabregas, Matic, Oscar and Kante now. Willian, one of the bright light from Chelsea's dark campaign last season would look to continue his amazing performances. With many teams strengthing their tems, Chelsea have a huge task ahead to perform well and match their fans expectations.

Liverpool, a team which has been below par for 4-5 seasons now, if we leave apart that one season when they were competing for the title. Jurgen Klopp took charge of Liverpool midway last season and did not have his own team to play with. But now he's had enough time to adapt to the Premier League and build his own team coming into the new season and has no excuses to make. Liverpool have some excellent young players and Klopp likes giving young players a chance. Although Liverpool did really well in the cups but losing in both the finals, most importantly in the Europa League final blowing its chance to play Champions League this season. But with new season the fans have a lot of expectations from Klopp. If Sturridge reamins fit throughout the season, the dream of winning the PL could turn into reality although their first priority would be playing in Europe with so many teams competing for the title.

Another North London team Tottehanam sprung up a surprise last season were this team, Played with a real heart last season taking the title competition to the very end before losing to eventual fairytale Champions Leicester city. Harry kane was the star performer winning the golden boot and would look to continue his goal scoring run to help is team.

Arsenal look a very balanced as well with veteran Arsene Wenger in charge and with some creative players like Mesut Ozil, Santi Cazorla and Alexis Sanchez to deliver. There defence looks solid too! And with Xhakha coming in to help Ramsey and Coquelin in the holding midfield role, the only thing they now lack is a 20-25 goal scoring striker. Time for Oliver Giroud to deliver?

Last but no the least, there would be really very very high expectations from Champioms Leicester City. They were underdos last season but now they will be under the eye of every team which might affect their performances. It would be interesting to see how players and the manager copes up with all the pressure. With Kante gone, they have a huge gap to fill. Champions League football to play for too. Playing mid-week matches could take a toll on their league performances too. But with Mahrez and Vardy staying at the club, it would be a real boost for the team.

And with teams like Southampton, Everton and West Ham United can spring a surprise anytime and some interesting managerial battles, it would be an interesting season to look forward to.
