Comparison between Sachin Tendulkar and Virat Kohli is understandable, but can Kohli beat the ‘God of Cricket’s’ record

Virat Kohli Test 26Sachin Tendulkar is arguably the best batsmen the world has ever seen and possibly will ever see!

With 100 centuries in all formats of the game, it’s really impossible for any current batsmen to beat that record!

However, after his retirement, there’s a new Indian star, who is tipped by many to beat Sachin’s astronomical record! And that new star, is Virat Kohli, the Indian Test captain and arguably India’s best batsmen at the moment.

If you compare the statistics of these greats, Virat Kohli has already 25 centuries under his belt, with an average of 51.51. Kohli has got to 25 centuries much faster than Sachin Tendulkar.

Are stats that important in gauging two greats for the greats of the game.

Now, the question arises, will Virat Kohli be able to break the cricketing records of Sachin Tendulkar? Can he surpass him?

I think he can. He’s only 27 years old and has already got to 25 centuries and possibly get more! This clearly means, Virat Kohli is a run machine! If, he goes on with the same, temperament, confidence and the same run scoring rate, there is every possibility that the young batsman can reach that milestone.

There have been multiple examples in front of us, when a rookie started his career with flying colors but then, as teams around the world worked out his technique and fame gathered around, they ended up falling apart.

This does not mean that Kohli doesn’t possess the talent, but does he has the passion for the game to keep playing for more than two decades? Can his body support him so long? Can he be fit, can he be injury free?

That’s his biggest challenge!

If, he stays fit and score at the same rate he’s been scoring, then he can definitely break, the God of Cricket, Sachin Tendulkar’s record.
