Kapil Dev takes on Tendulkar, says should have retired after World Cup

New Delhi: Yet again a buzzing debate has sparkled on. Cricket legend, Kapil Dev on a television show stated that, Sachin Tendulkar should have retired from Cricket after the 2011 Cricket World Cup.

During an interesting rendezvous with ‘Headlines Today’, Kapil Dev mentioned that though Sachin is a great player and has contributed a lot to this game, he should have quit long before. He also added that there are some people like Sachin who love the game so much that it becomes difficult for them to quit it.

Tendulkar, who is still in the hope of making his 100th international century, has been struggling for the big score recently, including the recent Tri-series in Australia.

Kapil Dev, who has led India to their first World Cup in the year 1983, also added that he should have been told earlier that he would not play ODI’s anymore and will only play Tests till he can.

After former Pakistan captain Imran Khan, Kapil Dev is the second person who has stirred the topic of Sachin retiring during world cup. Earlier after the devastating performance of Sachin in the 7th ODI against Australia, Ravi Shastri also ‘urged’ the Master Blaster to forget the 100th golden mark and just play the game.
