Mumbai: Harbhajan Singh, who is very much eyeing a spot in Team India, has confessed that Irani Trophy means a lot to him and this is the right time for him to show his fruitfulness with the bowl.
He is one of the members of 14-men Rest of India squad which will take on Mumbai in the Irani Cup, beginning from Wednesday and Harbhajan said he wants to do something special to get picked for the Australian series, starting later this month.
"My main aim is to bowl well and get in the Indian jersey and play for the country with the same enthusiasm as I played earlier. I hope if I give a good performance in the Irani trophy I will be able to make a comeback.”
When he was quizzed about his 100th Test, he simply said, "I have come this far because I was looking to enjoy the game and am just looking to get back in the whole system of enjoying the game and playing it with lot of passion. Things will start happening for me hopefully again," he said.
"Somewhere it gets to your head, when you are close to 100 Test matches or when you are batting from 90 to 100 or when you have taken four wickets and you are looking at taking another to get a five-wicket haul. It does get to your mind. Somewhere as a player you need to stick to basics rather than getting caught by such thoughts," he said.
Harbhajan looks all set to perform well against Ranji champions Mumbai and make sure Rest of India does well in the match that starts from tomorrow.
