Sunil Gavaskar ‘honored and humbled’ by BCCI’s decision to give him CK Nayudu Lifetime Achievement Award

New Delhi: Former Indian captain and opening batsman Sunil Gavaskar said that he is honoured and humbled for being chosen for Col. CK Nayudu Lifetime Achievement Award by BCCI.

Gavaskar’s name was chosen for the award by BCCI's Col. CK Nayudu Award Committee in a meeting held yesterday. Along with the trophy, Gavaskar will also receive a cheque for Rs. 25 lakhs.

"This is Indian cricket's biggest and highest award and I am honoured and humbled to join the list of the previous illustrious awardees," Gavaskar told English daily the DNA.

Col. CK Nayudu Award Committee will also honour seven individuals for their contribution to Indian cricket, their names are M.L. Jaisimha, Dilip Sardesai, Vijay Merchant, Vinoo Mankad, Dattu Phadkar, Vijay Manjrekar, Ghulam Ahmed. These individual will receive a trophy and cheque for Rs. 15 lakhs.
