India's medal tally can go up to 15 in Rio Olympics: Sushil Kumar

New Delhi: India star grappler Sushil Kumar, who won a silver medal for India in London Olympics is optimistic that India’s medal tally in the 2016 Rio Olympics can go as high as 15 medals.

In an interview to Zee News, Sushil said, “We won 3 medals in 2008 Beijing Olympics. This Olympics we have doubled the tally. I am hopeful that we can win around 15 medals in 2016 Olympics.”

Sushil said that he is satisfied with the kind of attention Olympic sports in getting in India. “The way people showed faith in us, the way they cheered us, I am really impressed with that,” added Sushil.

Cricket has always been blamed in the country for taking limelight away from other sports but then Sushil begs to differ. “The cricketers also play for the country. I have no problem with the fact that people like cricket. I like cricket, too. But of late people are taking interest in Olympics sports, too,” he said.

Sushil created in history in London after he became the first Indian athlete to win back to back Olympic medals.
