Euro Cup 2012: Germany vs Denmark: Hits and flops...

Germany maintained their 100 per cent win record in the group stages of Euro Cup 2012 after they beat Denmark to 2-1 in a match which inconsequential for the 2008 runners up. The tie held a lot of significance for the Danes but then they were completely dominated by the Germans and their hopes of making it to the knockout stages were dashed to ground.

Both the teams had good players at their disposal and here are some of the hits and flops of the match:

Nicklas Bendtner: After a good performance in the last match against Portugal, he once again rose to the occasion and was a livewire on the field. He created several chances for his team, played a role in setting up their goal and was also equally good in the air. It is very sad that Europe would not see this crafty player in action anymore as the Danes would not be part of the action anymore in the tournament.

Michael Krohn Deli: He had a decent tournament and was again at in the last match. He was the lone scorer for his team after his header found the nets.

Flops:

Christian Eriksen: The playmaker displayed a below par performance in the match. He was not able to create chances for his team and lost possession many a times during the match, which cost his side dear.

Niki Zimling: He was completely anonymous during the match and was seen wanting most of the times. Had a little influence on the match.

Germany:

Lars Bender: He was outplayed by Krohn Deli in the air but he compensated for it with his first international goal for his team which eventually turned out to be a winner. Had a good game which might earn him more starts in the coming games.

Lukas Podolski: It was his 100th game and what a way to celebrate it as he scored the opening goal for his team. Had a good game and showed good instincts.

Flops:

Thomas Mueller: He missed many goal-scoring opportunities was woeful on the right and his passes always found the wrong person.
