Nobody can break Sachin Tendulkar’s record of 100 hundreds: Virat Kohli

New Delhi: Having already scored 12 international hundreds in a career spanning just over three years, Virat Kohli is considered to be the next big thing in Indian cricket. Boosting of a record which is better than that of legendary Sachin Tendulkar in his initial years, he is touted as the man who might cross the Master Blaster’s milestone of scoring 100 hundreds. However, the man himself is being quite modest when he says that reaching ton of tons is a big askance and nobody could ever break that record, at least in the near future.

“Sachin’s record is enviable.  I might have scored more hundreds than what Sachin scored at that initial stage of his career, but we all know scoring 100 hundreds is something which is a huge task. I don’t think anyone can ever do that in the near future,” said Kohli, on being asked if he had it in him to break Sachin’s record.

Kohli is also of the view that his aggression on the field is his strength and there is no need curb that. “It’s my strength I guess. It’s because of my aggression that I have been able to perform so well on the field till now. I have always played cricket like this and will continue to do that in future as well. I just need to take care of that fine line and should not cross it,” said Kohli.

On being asked if he has missed out of the much coveted Arjuna award because of the mess created between BCCI and the Sports Ministry, Kohli said that he has never played for records, awards or rankings. “I have never played for records, rankings or awards. In fact I wasn’t aware of all this. If you ask me, I am happy with my present achievements and the way I am going about in my career,” said Kohli, adding that if anyone who deserves this award the most in the team, it’s Yuvraj Singh. “I think Yuvraj deserves the award the most.”

Speaking on the captaincy issue, Kohli said that it’s no issue for him and if at all, he isn’t the right person to speak on that. “It is the selectors who will decide that and I don’t want to speak about it. If you ask me, it is no issue at all. MS Dhoni, he has been a fantastic captain till now. He is one of the best captains that India has ever produced. He has achieved almost everything and his record as a skipper is incomparable. I seriously do not understand why people are questioning him as a captain. According to me, he hasn’t done much wrong since the time he took over as India’s captain,” said Kohli.
