Players who cost less but played a major role in IPL-5

Indian Premier League is a major platform for any youngster. Players from all round the world want to play in this cash-rich league as they have a good chance to showcase their talent to the world. Players have got selected in their national side on the basis of their performances in IPL and that in itself is a great thing taking into consideration that IPL is a domestic league.

Everyone from players to commentators to umpires wants to be connected with the league. IPL apart from the exposure also provides a lot of money. Let’s have a look at some of the players who justified the amount spend on them by their franchises.

Sunil Narine (KKR): KKR shocked the cricketing world by bidding $700,000 for the relatively unknown West Indian. Narine played in the Champions League and impressed one and all. It was expected that teams will be after this mystery spinner, but no one expected him to go for so much money. The tournament is over and the result is for everyone to see. Though thought to be bought at a relatively high price at the beginning of the league, Narine was the best bowler in IPL-5 and Kolkata will admit that he was the best buy for them. There were players who were bought for much higher price, but none of them performed as well as Narine.

Ajinkya Rahane (RR): Rajasthan Royals pay an annual fee of $60,000 to this talented right-hander and he has justified every single penny of that. Rahane was one of the best batsmen on display in IPL-5. He played some scintillating innings and has made a name for himself. Rahane with 560 runs finished at number four in the list of highest run getter. He displayed sure tremendous composure and will surely get a bigger contract whenever his name will be up for the auction.

Parvinder Awana (KXIP): Kings XI Punjab’s best buy this season was Awana, they paid $50,000 for this young fast bowler and he ensured that he lives up to the faith. Awana bowled some superb spells in the tournament, his spell against the Chennai Super Kings was great to watch and his pace throughout the series was impressive to say the least. He took 17 wickets in the tournament and was the highest wicket taker from Punjab.

Azhar Mahmood (KXIP): kings XI Punjab spend $200,000 for this talented Pakistani all-rounder and they will not be regretting the decision. Mahmood changed the fate of his team the moment he was included in the side. Punjab had a bad run in the first half of the tournament and they changed all that in the second half, and it happened mostly because of Mahmmod’s effort. He is a very experienced T20 cricketer and had a good time in this season. Punjab who finished at number six would have been further down the table if not for Mahmood’s efforts.

Muttiah Muralitharan (RCB): Royal Challengers Bangalore made a smart move by purchasing the veteran spinner at $220,000. Murali one of the all time best bowler and he went for a cheap price. Murali bowled superbly throughout the tournament and Bangalore would have done much better if they would have fielded him in all the matches. Murali showed that he still has got what it takes to be successful.
