You can only pray to get Sehwag’s stumps off when he is on song: Harbhajan

New Delhi: You can only pray to get his stumps off when he is on song, said Mumbai skipper Harbhajan Singh at the post match conference after Delhi Daredevils defeated Mumbai Indians by 37 runs at Ferozeshah Kotla Ground here on Saturday.

“Nothing went as per our plan. Knowing that Delhi love to chase and their batting line up is strong, we opted to field first. But then Viru and Mahela batted quite well. And when Viru bats like that, it’s impossible to stop runs. Delhi outplayed us in all the departments. It wasn’t our day today,” said Harbhajan, praising Ambati Rayudu (62) and Dinesh Karthik (40) who did give hopes to the vistors of a successful run chase.

Virender Sehwag (73) and Mahela Jayawardene (53) gave Delhi a flying start and a century-run stand between the openers took Daredevils to a formidable total of 207 for five in 20 overs.

Later a disciplined bowling from pacers Umesh Yadav (2-36), Irfan Pathan (2-46) and left-arm spinner Shahbaz Nadeem (2-35) restricted Mumbai to 137 for nine in 20 overs.

Meanwhile Delhi Daredevils skipper Virender Sehwag, who was also adjudged the man-of-the-match for his brilliant knock, said that it was a nice feeling beating Mumbai Indians twice. “We batted well at the start. All our top order fired. I think I am in the best of form as far as IPL is concerned. I have sored around 150 in last three matches and that says about it,” said Sehwag, adding that his team members are still grounded.

“These are the things that we discuss in team meetings. I have told my boys to be grounded and not be overconfident by their performances so far. As far as senior players are concerned, me and Mahela have decided to stay on the wicket for as long as possible and thankfully one of us have been there till 15-16 overs and that makes our work easy during power hitting,” said Sehwag, appreciating the Delhi crowd who have been vociferously supporting Daredevils since the beginning of the tournament.
